Non-Violent Communication

Learning and practicing healthy interpersonal skills has become an essential element of our community. Interest in the non-violent communication (NVC) philosophy, promoted by Marshall Rosenberg, is currently experiencing a renaissance at Valle Armonia. From the beginning (2018), it was one of the foundations of our community, yet it was never practiced consistently. Nevertheless, we've reenergized our commitment as we continue to recognize the vital importance of communication in all human relationships.
A small intentional community is similar to your birth family, a larger one to an extended family. Not only are people not taught good communication skills during childhood, but rapid changes on our planet over the past century make our attempts at effective communication more difficult than ever. We acknowledge those challenges and attempt to always do our best - by honoring LOVE as the ultimate goal.
Circles and Meetings
Sharing from the heart in our "sharing circles" continues to increase in importance, leading to mutual understanding and respect. This encourages active support and bonding between people. Regular membership meetings are being held since we're in a time of transition and growth. One-on-one communication has always been prevalent in managing our community, but brainstorming in a group leads to a greater sense of unity. It's an amazing HIGH when people are on the same page and effectively working together, progressing towards a common goal they deeply believe in - to the core of their beings.
